On November 1, 2024, we were pleased to learn that Lara Maillet , Associate Professor at the École nationale d'administration publique (ENAP) and holder of the Canada Research Chair in Adaptive Systems in Health and Social Services (CRC Sa3S) , was honoured with the Research Excellence Award . This award, presented every four years, recognizes Lara's exceptional commitment and invaluable contribution to public administration and the transformation of health and social services systems.
Since joining ENAP in 2018, Lara has distinguished herself with an innovative vision and large-scale research, integrating participatory approaches and mixed methodologies to address crucial societal issues. Her research programming focuses particularly on the adaptation of health and social services organizations to contemporary challenges, while integrating the needs of vulnerable and marginalized populations into health system reforms. Her work thus aims to make health systems more inclusive, adaptive and equitable.

Among her recent contributions, Lara co-wrote in 2024 the book Les organisations de santé vues sous l'angle de la complexe , published by Presses de l'Université Laval, in collaboration with the late Paul Lamarche. This book offers a systemic and innovative perspective on health organizations, enriching the academic and professional debate around complex governance strategies.
Under the direction of Lara Maillet, the Sa3S Chair and the Laboratoire de recherches et interventions systèmes en santé (LabRIS) have strengthened their positioning as leading places of reflection on health governance and public administration. The Excellence in Research Award thus rewards her inspiring career and the lasting impact of her research on public practices and policies.
We would also like to warmly congratulate Fereshteh Mafakheri, who joined ENAP in 2021 and holds the Canada Research Chair in Bioenergy Transition, for her significant contributions in the field of renewable energy, sustainable development, the circular economy and data analysis.
We are proud to share this distinction which, well beyond personal accomplishment, testifies to the scope and influence of Lara Maillet's work in the sphere of public administration and social services.
Congratulations Lara on this well-deserved recognition!
